This month I celebrate inSilver's 11th Business Birthday!
|

I can't believe how quickly the years have passed since I waved goodbye to a reliable job in education that no longer served me. I had reduced my hours as a teaching assistant from full time to part time, steadily growing my business and allowing me to build it further until I felt that it was strong enough to financially support me and my two young daughters. It was a huge gamble and when I told my dad I had handed in my notice, his reply was 'bloody hell Aimi!' Sometimes you have to take that chance, I certainly wouldn't relish being employed by anyone else now! I'm proud of

how the business has evolved and how far I have come during that time, relocating from Leicestershire to a completely new location and new audience in Folkestone last year was practically like a whole new relaunch - but with the joy of experience behind me. I have lots of exciting plans for inSilver for 2026!

Now feels like the ideal time to launch my gift vouchers. I designed them and had them printed a few months ago, but rather than having them as one continuous sheet, I wanted to do something to make them more special. I have reworked them by trimming, punching holes and tying them with a silver satin ribbon bow and found some perfect little silver envelopes to present them in. They are now the height of glamour! They are available to purchase in multiples of £10 and are valid for 12

months, although they are often redeemed very quickly by the recipient! There will be a downloadable version of the gift vouchers on the website soon.

As a special business Birthday celebration, I'm doing a giveaway for a gift voucher to the value of £100 to one lucky winner that has subscribed to my email list. As you are already signed up, you don't have to do anything to be in the draw! The winner will be notified on Monday 27th October.

When the gift vouchers were completed, I realised that customers might want to have the gift voucher directly posted out to their loved ones, this meant that a gift card was required. I collaborated with local illustrator, designer and print maker, Fabia Gough and commissioned her to design some jewellery gift cards. Fabia has incorporated images of my jewellery and completed the loveliest lino printed card design, left blank so that they are suitable for any occasion and plenty of room for your own personal message.

I'm gearing up for Christmas! Being in retail, I have to be ahead of the game! I love the Christmas stock photos taken by Laura of Anysomething Photography, I'm looking forward to using a selection of them over the coming weeks. The Harbour closes on Sunday 26th October and then I'm doing a pop-up shop in Sheepy Magna, Leicestershire (my old shop) on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 10am to 6pm. Then I get to enjoy a weekend off, before the festive market opens at Folkestone Harbour on Friday 14th November for the opening night and lights switch on. Throughout November and December it will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday opening, then daily on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th December, by then I think I will be ready to collapse in a heap!
