Hi subscriber,

December for me is often a time of high stress, keeping up with orders and making stock to replenish the cabinets! I closed my order books a fortnight ago and just posted the last batch of jewellery out for 2025 to be Hallmarked, I think I actually felt my shoulders drop with relief as I left the Post Office!

In the summer, I was asked if I would lend some jewellery out to an independent film company based in Folkestone. The film being made was The Folkestone Ladies Erotic Fiction Club, written by Sharon Burrell (pictured with me below). The film is about the trials and tribulations of three ladies in midlife; they have a mutual love for writing fiction and meet up monthly to share the short stories that they have written. Their stories were told in flashback, fun and light hearted with touching emotional scenes woven though. It was filmed in and around Folkestone, capturing the fabulous green and coastal spaces that surround us.

I went to a private screening of the film at the end of last month and saw my jewellery worn on the big screen – well, big-ish! Actress Claire Storey wore the Seaweed pendant and Olivia Hallinan wore the Malachite earrings and Chinese Turquoise triangular pendant! Big thanks to Sharon for sending me the stills of the actresses wearing my pieces. The Folkestone Ladies Erotic Fiction Club will be screened at film festivals around the world next year!

The gold vermeil jewellery was launched earlier this month and is getting a positive response from visitors to the hut; I do need to restock some pieces. Gold Vermeil (pronounced vermey) is silver jewellery – my usual designs, but plated with a 2.5 micron layer of 9ct gold. It is a lovely warm colour which I have quickly become very fond of! Take a look for yourself online.

Also this month and just in time for Christmas, I have added a selection of inSilver jewellery into a brand new gallery space called Curio Emporium, it’s a creative space on the High Street in Sandgate. It’s set in a Victorian building, with large windows and an industrial feel with its bare brick interior walls. It’s an exciting time as new artists and makers deliver their goods to this new venture.

Hopefully by now your Christmas shopping is almost complete? As usual, mine is a last minute escapade to hit the shops! Don’t forget the last dates for posting online inSilver orders is this Friday 19th December for guaranteed delivery. Here’s the link to the website, just in case!

The Festive Marketplace at Folkestone Harbour is open from 11-7 on Friday and Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday. We are also open from 11-6 on Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th December for those last minute gifts.

Free gift wrapping will be available on Christmas Eve for those last minute panic buyers! The Harbour Marketplace is then closed until March.

I’m looking forward to some downtime after Christmas, a time to reflect and take stock of where I am with the business and how it can evolve for me in 2026. I have got desires to work with sparkly faceted stones and offer more bespoke pieces, I’m also planning to bring back my beginners jewellery making workshops once I have found the right venue – you will hear it first here!
Thank you for subscribing to my emails, I hope you enjoy reading them. Special thanks to Rebecca Huntley, my virtual assistant who gives me the accountability to get the emails written and send them for me!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy new year!
